CBD and Focus

CBD and Focus

In recent years, CBD has been gaining a lot of fans who use it to help with a variety of issues. The most common being anxiety, inflammation, sleep and pain. While cannabidiol has not been approved by the FDA to treat anything besides seizures, that’s not stopping most people from giving it a try.

Why should it? CBD is extremely well tolerated by humans, and according to the Mayo Clinic it is fairly safe, with limited side effects:

“Though it's often well-tolerated, CBD can cause side effects, such as dry mouth, diarrhea, reduced appetite, drowsiness and fatigue.”

With the passage of the 2018 Farm Bill, US Grown Industrial Hemp has been legalized in the United States. This is what placed CBD in the mainstream marketplace. CBD oil is now easily available at an online hemp oil store.

Prior to 2018, only a few companies such as: Nuleaf Naturals and CBDistillery were actively conducting research into CBD.

Now there are more brands than we can count.

With that market growth, come new uses.

Historically CBD has been used to naturally aide everyday users with issues such as:

  • Anxiety
  • Depression
  • Inflammation
  • Sleep
  • Pain

Let’s remember that none of these have been approved by the FDA, which means most of the benefits are user reported. No cannabidiol hemp extract company can claim that their products helps with any of these issues.

With mental health issues on the rise, more and more people are searching for natural ways to help. This helps to explain why the CBD Market Size is expected to reach to a mind blowing $39.99 billion by 2027 in the US alone.

In the last few months we’ve received a number of questions asking if CBD can help with focus, from people looking at CBD for sale.

The answer is not as straight forward as you might think. Concentration and focus issues can be caused by a wide variety of factors.

Therefore, we decided to explore this topic a little bit deeper.

  1. What is focus?

  2. What can cause focus and concentration issues?

  3. Does CBD help you focus?

What is focus?

When it comes to focus and concentration, the most basic definitions are the best. Focus is best defined as the ability to begin a task, project, book etc., without procrastination and maintaining your attention and effort until that task in complete.

This definition implies that focus means being able to concentrate on one thing. Which makes perfect sense. If you’re working on multiple tasks at once, you are multitasking and not actually focusing on the task at hand.

When you are focused, you have the ability to concentrate your effort and direct an action towards a particular goal, outcome or task, for a certain period of time, or until finished.

What can cause focus and concentration issues?

First, it’s important to look at what happens when you are unable to focus and concentrate.

Sad Woman

When a person is unable to concentrate, they are also unable to think clearly, focus on a task, or even maintain attention on a task or project. This is extremely important as your work, school, life could be greatly affected.

According to Healthline, below are some of the symptoms that can affect people who are unable to concentrate:

  • being unable to remember things that occurred a short time ago
  • difficulty sitting still
  • difficulty thinking clearly
  • frequently losing things or difficulty remembering where things are
  • inability to make decisions
  • inability to perform complicated tasks
  • lack of focus
  • lacking physical or mental energy to concentrate
  • making careless mistakes

Focus and concentration issues can be caused by medical, cognitive or psychological problems and can be connected to sleep disorders, medication, alcohol or even drugs.

Medical issues can include some chronic illnesses such as sleep apnea, stroke, infections, heavy metal poisoning, and pain. Cognitive issues can include Attention Deficit Disorder, learning disabilities, delirium and or dementia.

Finally, psychological issues that may cause concentration issues can include anxiety, depression, stress, emotional traumas and bipolar disorders.

As you can see there are a lot of factors to consider before determining what is the root cause of your focus and concentration issues.

Does CBD help you focus?

We hope by now you can clearly see why this is a difficult question to answer.

If your focus issues are affecting your life on a deep level, it’s important you reach out to a medical professional who may be able to diagnose you. This could be a sign of other issues going on that might require medical attention.

CBD itself does very little to help you directly improve focus. It’s not a magic oil that can cure any and all symptoms you might have.

That being said, CBD and quality hemp extract oil can potentially help with some underlying conditions that can cause a person to have issues concentrating.

As stated earlier, CBD has shown some potential in helping people who are dealing with:

  • Anxiety
  • Pain
  • Inflammation
  • Sleep Disorders

All of the above issues can affect the way a person is able to focus.

Pool Focus

If you’re anxious, for instance, various thoughts are constantly running through your mind. With all that going on, how can a person focus on one issue?

The reality is, they can’t.

Using CBD to potentially help alleviate anxiety, will also indirectly result in a person being clearheaded and able to concentrate on the task at hand.

Same goes for pain issues and sleep disorders.

Therefore, if those are the main causes of your focus and concentration issues, CBD does theoretically have the ability of help you focus, by working with your ECS on reducing your symptoms, leaving you clearheaded and able to accomplish what you wanted to accomplish.

Just make sure you take the correct CBD spectrum.

Some people have THC induced anxiety, in which case full spectrum CBD, which can contain up to 0.3% THC will be a bad idea. For those individuals, we at The CBD Haven recommend broad spectrum CBD or CBD isolate.
