CBD for discomfort

CBD for discomfort

CBD is everywhere recently. From the local coffee shop, all the way to your grandmothers’ medicine cabinet, there’s no ignoring this new health trend. Especially since it has become extremely easy to buy CBD online

The user reviews are in. CBD seems to be working. To be fair though, the FDA has not approved CBD for any medical use except Epidiolex, which helps in the treatment of seizures in people with severe types of epilepsy called Lennox-Gastaut syndrome, Dravet syndrome and recently Tuberous Sclerosis Comples (TSC).

Doctor and patient

Currently, people are using CBD for a large number of medical reasons, whether physical or mental. They include:

Having all the facts is helpful, especially since some CBD products can get expensive.

  1. What is CBD?

  2. Can CBD cream help with discomfort and inflammation?

  3. Can CBD oil and salve reduce aches?

What is CBD?

CBD stands for Cannabidiol, and it’s one of over 100 known molecules that is synthesized by the cannabis plant. There are 2 main types of the cannabis plant, hemp and marijuana.

The main difference between the hemp plant and the marijuana plant is the THC content. Marijuana plant contains THC of 0.4% or higher, while the hemp plant has a THC content of 0.3% or lower. That is what makes the hemp derived CBD legal in all 50 U.S. states.

Marijuana derived CBD is still illegal and can only be obtained at a dispensary.

Hemp derived CBD is legal in the entire United States and can be obtained easily from reputable sources. As with anything, make sure you purchase quality CBD from a respectable brand. So that you get exactly what you paid for.

CBD extracted from the hemp plant is non-psychoactive and will not get you high.

There are three main types of CBD hemp extract on the market:

  1. Full Spectrum
  2. Broad Spectrum
  3. CBD Isolate

Recently, there has been a new cannabinoid showing up for sale online, and it is CBD & CBG. For more answers on CBG, please check out our blog here.

Full spectrum and broad spectrum CBD contain all the cannabinoids, flavonoids and terpenes from the hemp plant. They provide users with the entourage effect, which is beneficial to achieving the full benefits of hemp.

The main difference between the two is the THC content. While broad spectrum CBD is 100% THC free, by U.S. Law, full spectrum CBD can contain up to 0.3% THC.

CBD Isolate is exactly what it sounds like. This is pure CBD. When purchased from a quality brand, CBD Isolate oil will contain over 99% pure CBD.

Can CBD cream help with discomfort and inflammation?

CBD acts on the cannabinoid receptors that are a part of your endocannabinoid system (ECS). That is the system tasked with promoting homeostasis in your body.

Scientists are still uncertain as to the full function of the ECS, however thus far they realize it has a function in regulating sleep, mood, appetite, chronic pain, learning and memory, stress, and muscle formation to name a few.

Beam Level

There are a few ways to take/apply CBD for discomfort: internally and externally.

When using the internal method, the patient ingests CBD oil, CBD gummies, or CBD softgels, or even CBD vape. The theory behind internal digestion is that this way CBD will help to fight inflammation in the body. By fighting the inflammation in the affected areas, CBD is thought to reduce aches and discomfort.

Can CBD oil and salve reduce aches?

We also have the external method. There are topical salves and ointments that can be applied directly to the affected area. They help to reduce discomfort and swelling directly from the outside.

Studies are currently being done on the effectiveness of CBD for discomfort. The FDA has not approved the use of CBD for any medical treatments besides Epidiolex yet.

However, that does not mean it doesn’t work.

Balm

There are a countless number of people who use CBD daily to help manage their aches. CBD is becoming a daily staple in many people’s lives and that’s for a good reason. It seems to work for them.
