Best CBD Oil
New to CBD oil and wondering what is the best CBD oil? You’re not alone. This is probably the most common question we get. With how easy it is to buy CBD online and having it shipped to your front door, there are new users daily trying to answer to same question.
To be perfectly honest, if we could give you a straight answer we would be writing this blog on our company yacht, while a gentleman named Jeeves has taken the company chopper to the island for some Kona coffee. We’d be that rich!
Especially since MarketWatch is projecting the CBD market size to skyrocket in the next 4 years.
For the record, we don’t even have company kayaks yet but being a Chicago based company, we believe they’re a must for our beautiful downtown river.
The reason we can’t give a straight, honest, truthful and accurate answer is that it will all depend on you. Each human body responds differently to everything we put in it, so what works for some, may not work for others.
Results will vary dependent on:
-
Consumption method
-
CBD oil spectrum
-
Weight & Metabolism
-
Ailment
-
Plus many other factors
What makes things even more complicated, is that each batch of CBD oil is different.
So even if you find one oil that works for you, there might be a difference in how your body responds, depending on the actual hemp extracted oil batch you are consuming.
It might take you a while to find the best CBD oil that works for all your needs, so be patient and take your time.
As opposed to telling you what our opinion is on the best CBD oil, based on our own experiences, sales numbers and customer reviews, we decided to create this knowledgeable guideline, so that you can know exactly how to find what you’re looking for.
Consumption method
We know what you’re thinking. It’s cannabidiol oil, you just swallow it. Well, technically yes. However how you actually swallow will make a big difference in the bioavailability of the CBD.
Bioavailability means how much of the actual active ingredient will reach your systemic circulation.
The recommended, and the best way to take CBD oil is sublingual. That is when you put the drops under your tongue, hold for 30 to 60 seconds, then swallow.
This is the recommended method because the bioavailability based on past studies varies from 12% to 35%. Significantly higher than simply swallowing.
That is due to the sublingual gland, which is located under your tongue. CBD is absorbed directly into the blood stream.
Oral consumption means you swallow the oil or add cannabidiol extract to your latte/salad/cookies, whatever.
According to a 2009 study, the bioavailability via oral consumption ranges from 10% to 20%, with a small number of participants reporting at 4%. Much lower than sublingual.
Cannabidiol oil that is simply swallowed has to travel through the digestive tract and get processed by the liver before reaching the blood stream.
In our opinion the best way to consume CBD oil is sublingual.
However, some people cannot tolerate holding the oil under their tongues. So, when looking for best CBD oil take your consumption method into account, and buy a higher strength oil if needed.
Same oil, made by the same manufacturer and same spectrum may work better if you increase or decrease the dosage.
CBD oil spectrum
When looking for the best CBD oil in the market, picking the right spectrum is crucial. That is for a couple reasons and we will get into them briefly below.
Currently there are 3 main CBD spectrums that are being sold:
There are a few main differences between them. If you want to learn more, check out our Oil Spectrums Blog.
Full Spectrum CBD oil contains all of the cannabinoids, flavonoids and terpenes found in the hemp plant. CBD is only one of those compounds, although the one with the highest concentration.
This also means that it contains THC.
The amount of THC that is legally allowed in a hemp extracted oil is 0.3% or less. That is an extremely low amount and will not get you high, but it is important to note its presence.
Broad Spectrum CBD oil is similar to full spectrum in that it contains all the cannabinoids, flavonoids and terpenes of hemp. However, it is processed one step further to remove the THC.
To be fair, minute trace amounts of THC are still possible, however broad spectrum CBD is typically marketed as THC Free.
Finally, we have CBD Isolate oil. Everything from the hemp plant has been processed out, except for the cannabidiol compound. This is the purest form of CBD out there; however, it is the most processed.
Quality brands can have up to 99% of CBD, in their CBD isolate formulas.
Weight & Metabolism
Weight & Metabolism are two key differentiators when it comes to personally picking the best CBD oil and dosage for you. This one is something you will need to test over time to see how you respond.
The higher the weight, the higher the dosage.
So, start low with the spectrum you want to start. Split your dose into two, and consistently take one half in the morning, one in the evening.
Take notes so you can objectively review how you feel later. Adjust dosage after 5 days if necessary.
Ailment
The type of ailment you are using CBD for will also make picking the best CBD oil for you important. For instance, if you want to try CBD for your angsts and worries, but you have THC induced panic, or any sensitivity to THC, using full spectrum CBD oil will only make things worse.
Broad spectrum, or even CBD Isolate in higher quantities is recommended.
Since CBD is not FDA approved, with the exception of one medication used to treat seizures, it’s important you do additional research and look at user reviews.
Make sure you select the proper spectrum and strength for the condition you want to try and improve.
Plus many other factors
There could be many additional factors that will help you decide the type of CBD oil that is best for you. Flavor is one of them.
If you’re looking for a natural hemp flavored full spectrum CBD, the NuLeaf Naturals brand gives you a nice choice. They are made with Organic Virgin Hemp Seed Oil, as opposed to MCT oil some other manufacturers use.
You can also check out some cool flavors from Social CBD, CBDfx, Relive Everyday, and Lazarus Naturals. They make flavored CBD oil, that will please even the most sophisticated taste buds.
Most important thing is to have fun, while looking for the best CBD oil for you.
Try a few, and don’t get frustrated. With time, and with proper guidance you will discover the same benefits countless number of people already have.
