How does CBD work?
We know a few things. CBD is everywhere. From your local gym, to the artisan coffee place around the block. It is also starting to come up in more and more conversations. You can easily purchase CBD online as well.
For good reasons too.
Hemp extract oils and tinctures seem to have a lot of benefits that aide in our physical and mental health. Keep in mind, this is well before FDA has approved CBD for any medicinal purposes.
At this point there’s only one CBD drug that has been approved by the FDA. Epidiolex by GW Pharmaceuticals has been proven to decrease seizures in adults and children. Specifically, seizures that are caused by Dravel syndrome, or Lennox-Gastaut syndrome.
This drug has also been shown to reduce seizures in patients with tuberous sclerosis complex, Sturge-Weber syndrome among others, but has not been approved yet for the treatment of these conditions.
Majority of people are not taking CBD to help with their seizures. Most new users that have added CBD into their daily routine use it for the following reasons:
More and more uses are being discovered, as we really start exploring the wonderful cannabinoid that is hemp extracted CBD.
Since there is only one approved FDA use, what does CBD do that makes people so convinced it can help with all their ailments.
That’s what we wanted to explore in this blog.

In the meantime, grab your cannabidiol latte and get ready to be amazed.
1. What is CBD?
It stands for cannabidiol, and it is one of over 100 cannabinoids in the cannabis plant. Before you think anything else, no it does not necessarily mean it’s weed. The cannabis plant has two main varieties: hemp and marijuana.
When you buy CBD online at The CBD Haven, you will get 100% hemp extracted products. That is because the THC content in the hemp plant is 0.3% or lower. That is one of the main differences between hemp and marijuana.
The hemp extracted oil and tinctures are also legal in all 50 states in the United States, thanks to the 2018 Farm Bill, that removed hemp from the list of controlled substances.

2. How does CBD work in the body?
We're all different, and our bodies respond to things differently. However, CBD works the same way in all of us, even if our responses may vary.
CBD works with the endocannabinoid system (ECS) throughout the entire human body, which includes the skin. This is partly why there are so many uses for CBD.
It works with two major cannabinoid receptors within the ECS: CB1 and CB2, to help regulate our body functions. There’s speculation in the scientific community about the existence of a third receptor, but it has not been discovered yet.
The endocannabinoid system is responsible for maintaining homeostasis, or a status quo in our body. It is responsible for the heart, digestive system, endocrine system, immune system, nervous system and reproductive system. This is another reason why people across the globe are using CBD to help with a large number of issues.
Scientists have still not discovered all the functions of the ECS and what it can do, but as you can see, it is a complex system that is extremely important in helping maintain a healthy body.
3. How long does CBD take to work?
Depends on the reason you take it, and the method you choose. If you vape cannabidiol oil for anxiety, the effect is almost immediate. However, if you consume the oil sublingually, it typically takes between one to two hours to work.
If you take CBD oil orally for pain, it can take up to a couple weeks to work. That’s if you have the right dosage and type of oil.
As you can see, it’s a bit more complex and will take some personal experimenting to figure out the right type and dosage.
4. How long does it take for CBD gummies to work?
CBD gummies are one of the best and easiest ways to consume cannabidiol. They are portable, convenient, easy to take and every single gummy contains the exact dosage you are looking for. No wonder they are becoming extremely popular to use for anxiety and sometimes depression.
Depending on the dosage per gummy, you will typically feel the effect after about an hour. These have a longer lasting effect than other forms of CBD, as it typically takes 6 to 8 hours for our bodies to fully digest them.
Best thing you can do is shop CBD gummies online and try them out for yourself.
5. How long does it take for CBD drops to work?
Want to shop CBD oil online and are wondering how long before CBD drops work. That is also a bit more complex of an answer.
This will vary by the ailment you are using it for, the dosage and the consumption method. If you ingest the oil orally, and use it sublingually before swallowing, you should start feeling the effects within 15 to 20 minutes. Full effects most likely around an hour.
If you add the oil to your coffee or salad dressing, it will take a bit longer.
6. CBD for pain how long till it works?
There are two ways to apply CBD for pain: external and internal.
If you digest CBD oil for pain, and assuming you have the proper dosage and spectrum, it might take up to a couple weeks before you start noticing any effects. However, as it is a natural way to deal with ailments, people are beginning to prefer it to the harsher pharmaceutical options, if it works for them.
7. How does CBD oil work for dogs?
Our furry best friends, just like humans have a fully functioning endocannabinoid system that helps to regulate their body functions. Therefore, more and more dog owners are using cannabidiol oil to help their furry BFF’s with the same symptoms that humans use it for.
This includes anxiety, pain, inflammation and in some dogs canine aggression.
Thanks to our friends at the American Kennel Club, we know there can be additional benefits:
“According to Dr. Klein, CBD is also used because of its anti-inflammatory properties, cardiac benefits, anti-nausea effects, appetite stimulation, anti-anxiety impact, and for possible anti-cancer benefits, although there’s no conclusive data on this use.”
